Check your Firewall for Leaks

Firewalls are very important defense mechanisms in this modern era of Internet. They defend our computers against many threats preying on us every time we browse internet. Some of this threats include nasty issues such as virus infection, personal file exposure, remote control, personal data theft and more.
Therefore it is important to have a powerful firewall such ZoneAlarm, Comodo, Outpost, Online Armor and Windows firewall as well. Unfortunately major problem in Windows Vista represents its default state which allows each and every program on a computer to connect to internet without any warning. To find out if Windows or any other firewall is properly configured and does what it is suppose to, I recommend you to run Firewall Leak Tester by Gibson Research Corp. Just run it and when/if your personal firewall asks you to allow it, choose block. If this utility is not able to connect to grc.server without your approval your firewall possibly is strong and well configured. Try it.

How does LeakTest work! LeakTest attempts to establish a standard TCP connection to port 80 (HTTP) of the main grc.com web server at Gibson Research Corporation. After achieving a connection, data transfer permission is verified, then the connection is terminated. Some AntiVirus programs such as my ThreatFire recognize this utility as malware or PUA (because of leaking abilities). For more information visit official website.
