Keeping all the computer software updated is not an easy job despite the special dedicated software offering you to automatically suggest and download newest patches (which are more or less useless). Updating system drivers is even more complicated. I really do not have time searching online entire day to manually find driver updates. Microsoft makes it even worse to be honest. In device manager where I normally check driver’s status there is an icon offering to check for latest drivers. In my case, though hardware drivers are at least 6 months old Microsoft happily reports them to be most contemporary! In this situation I remembered not so old but actually just recently fully functional application named DriverMax.
DriverMax is an excellent fully functional and free application for updating, exporting and importing hardware drivers. After installation, an intuitive and eye-catching interface pops up, asking you to make a free account. After that you are able to scan computer which takes only a few seconds and get a detailed report of installed drivers, their versions and best of all, direct download links to the latest driver versions such, chipset, audio and video drivers, usb ports, and various controllers. More or less procedure for power-users anyway.
After installing DriverMax, making free account and scanning computer for obsolete drivers, choose direct driver download links and begin downloading them. Program stores updates to special folder, where you have to manually pick them up and install. To do that, go to device manager and just for precaution compare current version with the one you are about to install/update and make sure you really are installing the latest driver version. Before you install new one, you have to uninstall an old driver. You can do this in the same device manager window. Just select driver category and find specific driver you are looking for. Open it and under driver Tab, you should have options of uninstalling and installing. This usually demands system reboot. But above all I urge you to make system restore point and backup of your drivers with DriverMax if you want to spare yourself a big headache. You know what I mean if things go wrong.
What you are doing is not playing a solitaire game, but modifying crucial hardware drivers which in worst-case scenario may bring your system to malfunction, disable video acceleration, usb ports, sound and possibly even to problems detecting Hard Drive if you do not know how to deal whit such things. So a little caution and experience would not hurt.
