It is always a good idea to monitor internet traffic coming in and out computer. This gives you an insight into bandwidth issues, whether ISP is trully giving you enough bandwidth you are paying for and probably most important it gives you an option to see unknown network traffic that may be caused by malware phoning home. We can monitor network activity in three ways. Most simple method is build right into Windows XP and Vista. Third option is to monitor traffic within an existing software firewall. Not every firewall supports this option so you will have to check with your firewall yourself.
