Jv16 PowerTools is actually a very well-known multi-purpose cleaning and system error fixing utility with relatively long history tradition also known among experienced computer users.
I first heard of it a few years ago and the first time I tried it I knew the application was reliable and outstanding piece of software. Free version is according to developer based on the same award-winning engine as its paid counterpart. The main interface is very simple but eye-catching and can be displayed in simple or advanced mode featuring registry cleaning tool and option of backing up different Windows sectors such as Start menu items, IE favorites, desktop icons etc but apart that it does not have all those great tools of its paid version. For that you will have to look into your pocket.
Scanning algorithm options are divided into 4 sections varying from safe to aggressive explaining what every setting does and the scanning itself is fast as well.
Although I am usually against registry cleaning applications which according to my experience in many cases cause more problems than they solve I can conclude with words that this application is safe and I would not mind to leave it the care of cleaning any main computer system as long as you do not choose aggressive mode.

There’s one thing I don’t really understand with this tool. I tested, ran a scan and saw that this tool classifies the scan result as junk and registry errors. I am basically not against registry cleaners if someone knows what exactly to do, but how could such a simple third party tool decide which is the registry error and what to do with it?
Either it is not a registry error or if it is, it’s the user who must fix it in an expert way or by the help of technical support or knowledge base.
Real registry errors are Windows or application specific and they do have files belonging to the regkey, therefore it is impossible for a registry cleaner to find it. In addition in many cases the fix will come with the next product or Windows update, unless we mess up the registry with deleting keys.
Regcleaners are only for cleaning. I don’t trust neither have I respect for simple third party registry cleaner that claims it can handle registry error.

Thanks for your point of view over registry cleaning tools.
Finding registry errors in most cases means discovering values and keys which are left overs of once installed programs but now deleted. For example when you uninstall a program via add/remove panel you will still find the belonging folder of uninstalled program in program files folder - not to mention some undeleted registry values. And this is in most cases what this sort of programs actually try to find and erase.
Of course messing with anything else than just this is a potential way to catastrophe so real registry cleaning can be left only to manual professional inspection as you already pointed out.
