Panda Cloud Antivirus Review

Panda Cloud Antivirus is an interesting solution based entirely on cloud technology meaning all the malware scanning is operated by Panda's cloud servers. This AV is the first of its kind and it is currently in beta stage yet for free. Panda goes even more generous by saying that anyone who will try Panda Cloud now by requesting it through email will receive Panda Cloud genuine license key once it is out of beta stage.

I am sure you all have heard of Panda activescan which approached malware by collective intelligence technique and so far it was considered to be one of the most up-to-date online antivirus scanners available. This power is now being transfered to Panda Cloud technology adding not just file scanning ability but removing all threats as well, which brings us to fully functional and - I can not believe my ears highly efficient antivirus program if the rumors about using activescan technology are correct.

Unfortunately PCA uses quite an amount of ram, 50 MB to be exact and considered amount of cpu power while residing in computer which typically varies between 3-15% on core 2 Duo 1.8Ghz. While performing a full scan it took a hefty 70-80 % of Core 2 Duo processing power. I am not sure why that much as the entire scanning process is being processed on their servers, but I figure it out it is a bug of some kind. After all it is still beta product.

Main graphical interface is very simple and appropriate even for novice users as there is no confusing settings. It is a plug and play toy.

It is still in beta, but GUI, simplicity & functionality-wise it is one of the best there is. Shame it does not work on my Windows 7 though, when it worked just fine in my other Vista...

Thanks Thomas for the post. I didn't know that the company will distribute free license key once the product is out of beta!!

@Be James
about free license.
This is what I managed to get out of their beta testing announcement. I hope those keys will not be just a extended trial keys but fully functional. But the message I read from Panda was a little dubious, so I hope they are playing it fairly. I think they are.

But of course this applies to beta testers only not everyone.

G-Data Antivirus -While at the #1 spot, the tests done by PC World shows that it definitely swept away most of the malware found on the computer, and they liked its clean interface. However, they did find that it offered little instruction and guidance when working with other software.
