Surely a good antivirus replacement utility but only for technically experienced users. Some hour prior to this post, I was complained by a friend of mine for persuading him to install Mamutu because apparently he does not know when to allow or block certain programs, which messes up his PC's functionability.
Good news, though. At least it proved that Mamutu works! =D
hehe... I would not recommend hips to my friends neither. You just have to have a little experience with such software. But a good thing about Mamutu is that it allowes you to choose either silent mode or the one with more warnings which is a little more robust.
This is the best malware blocking software...beleive me i tried it on my office server and it proved to be better than the one provided by microsoft...
I dont like behavior-based protection. When there is a such protection like that it warns you all the time when there is change in system32 or registry etc. Its good for system administrators may be not for a newbie. I am software developer and sometimes i needed to read some values from registry and manipulate them and re enter that values to registry again. So if the users are using mamutu is it going to ask something or permission to the user when they use my software ?
@computersake It probably will ask yes. However Mamutu features also so called "quite" mode which produces less warnings but slightly decreases overall protection as well. For your purpose I suggest you to try free ThreatFire - behavior-based softwarew which fall in category of so called "smart" hips and produces very little warnings, eventhough you modify registry. Try it out and see if it works for you. Otherwise I perfectly understand your problem with such software.
It's an anti-malware 'Online Poker' crazy enough to tell your thoughts. Btw, does the so called "quite" mode lessen security but also lessen the processes that affects PC's speed optimization?
@Engadgeteer Mamutu needs to be running 2 processes no matter what mode you choose. However, most probably these two does consume less cpu cycles but as I was I not part of development team, I do not know for sure, how algorithm actually works. In any case you should not worry about decreased PC performance unless mamutu conflicts with some sort of your software or when updating itself.
