Windows 7 by default offers a simple way of changing mouse cursor via control panel as its predecessor Vista, but as you may have noticed the variety of available cursors is pretty monotonic and limited to only simple objects such as hand, sand watch and various arrows. Personally I am kind a tired of looking at the same mouse pointer in Windows from the very beginning and if you feel the same here is a good way to start.CursorFX is a free application enabling you to easily change Windows mouse cursor with free animated, anti-aliased, alpha-blended, glowing and trail-leaving cursors, which actually freshens up Windows 7 by their effects, spinning, glowing etc. By default there are 13 free available cursors with different sound schemes, effects and trails, but if for some reason you can not find them attractive, you might want to visit CursorFX community download center and get hundreds of free Windows cursors right away.

Unfortunately not every mouse pointer works in full potential with all effects under Windows 7 as this utility is only certified for Windows Vista and below, but in most cases you should get desired effect anyway.

Interesting...I used to use cursorFx.
CursorFx is good
@Techie Inspire
I am using it right now and I really like "GEAR" pointer. Spinning like a moving part of some kind of machine makes Windows feel almost like alive. That spinning is just sexy...
I agree with the part about the default mouse pointer being monotonic and simple. Forgive me, Microsoft, but using the same mouse pointers like that silly blue dinosaur is not going to make me enjoy my desktop more...
Exactly. And besides as far as i recon, Microsoft used same pointers from back to the Windows 95. They really do not have a clue that we(users) actually care about the look of a desktop, especially when one uses computer hours every day.
i dont really do this cursor changing and all ..before i had faced the virus problem with some third party software for all this stuff...so i dont like all this.
Sounds interesting. I have downloaded cursor mania. Will look into cursorFX......
